About
I work above and below the interface.
Software → Product / UX → Design leadership → Artificial intelligence → Research → AI system implementation
I started in software, with a software degree from MCAST, then moved deeper into product and UX. Over time I became more interested in the systems behind the interface: how decisions get made, where work gets repeated, and where software can remove effort nobody should be spending.
I led UX/UI design at Catena Media, and I'm a Research Officer at the University of Malta, where I also completed an MSc in Artificial Intelligence. Those two sides came together when I started building: an automated product-operations workflow at Catena, and TDi, a tender intelligence system that ACHV now uses for tender preparation.
I work above and below the interface: understanding the business problem, designing the workflow and using AI and software to turn the direction into a working system. I use modern AI tools heavily, but the goal is not to put AI everywhere. Part of the work is deciding where a model helps, where normal software is more reliable and where a person should stay in control.
I'm based in Malta and work remotely, taking on consulting engagements, fractional product and AI leadership, and selected contract work.

Above the interface: strategy, process, research and UX. Below it: software, AI, automation and implementation.
How I think
The interface is one layer of a larger system.
Systems over isolated screens
Any screen can be redesigned. A system that produces good outcomes repeatedly is the real work, and it should not depend on heroics.
Evidence over opinion
Every recommendation should trace back to a business problem, a user behaviour or a testable hypothesis.
Automation over repetition
If a task keeps repeating, question it. Use AI where it actually helps, and plain logic where that does the job better.
Governance over documentation alone
Rules in a document get ignored. Rules built into the tool or the process hold.
Human judgement where it matters
AI output is something a person reviews, corrects and owns. Systems should be designed around that review.
Outcomes over decoration
Design that cannot be connected to a result is preference, not strategy.
